In this work, photographing one’s own reflection forms a collective gesture: different participants follow a prescribed scenario of self-portraiture in the dark with a flash. A chain of intermediaries emerges between the human and the viewer: the mirror, the camera, the flash, and the surface bearing the printed image.

The viewer occupies a place of reflection, positioned in front of cameras directed at them. The flash captures the act of shooting and simultaneously obscures the result—the image appears alongside an interference that prevents viewing.

The video segment is structured as a sequence of individual episodes: participants photograph their own image using a webcam, taking turns in the frame. Each flash signifies the creation of a new shot, briefly revealing a person in the darkness.
