My project, «ZabavoSlov, ” is a series of illustrations for humorous original poems.

Hidden within each one is a marvelous, long-forgotten Russian word, the meaning of which is presented nearby in contemporary phrasing.
Thanks to the unusual plots, characters, and rhyme, these old-yet-new words will stick with you for a long time. All that remains is to wait for the right moment to shine with your erudition, surprise everyone, and become the star of the group!

Illustrations from the series
1. Obuzha — footwear
Obuz enjoys it, never gets bored.
2. To permed—to curl, to create ringlets
These wondrous mares have tossed their manes.
3. Bireuk — the lone wolf
This is a turquoise! It has no parallels—it’s goat-like.
4. Obabok — mushroom
They stand all day in line because there is no bench nearby.
5. To brag — to puff up, to get angry
Better just smile instead of fussing and pouting.
6. Buy — Together
Everyone buys the vatrushki. They look at the outfits, try them on, but they can’t decide what to choose!
7. Knysh — Bread
At the head sits King Knysh, nicknamed Kruglysh.
This work compiles all the characters who have previously been featured in separate illustrations.
