Uganda National Football Team Jersey Design Challenge

In the ancient Uganda, the drum was indeed put on the multitude of uses, quite apart from music; it was the instrument which announced both Joy and sorrow, it was used to let people know of the happy events and it announced the gatherings. It gave an alarm for war and announced the return of the triumphant warriors who had conquered in war and so, It has been used as an inspiration in the creation of the national team kits because of almost the similar functions, for it is worn by national heroes who represent the nation withholding emotions, strength, struggle, pain, blood, sweat and tears to bring joy to multitudes left at home.

The patterns have as well been inspired by Nyero rock paintings one of uganda’s archaeological treasures. Nyero rock paintings date to before 1250 CE. They were first documented in 1913 and later described by researchers as largely of geometric nature. This type of rock art is part of a homogeneous tradition often depicted in red pigment, spreading across east, central and parts of southern Africa, matching the distribution of the Late Stone Age hunter-gatherer culture. They have been significantly used to create the patterns that predominantly appear on the design.

The Home kit is designed with yellow shirts and black shorts, the shirts are embedded with the Nyero-pattern inspired by the Nyero rock paintings and seamless sleeves with black yellow and red stripes depicting the national flag and shorts designed in full black and deep black patterns.

The away kit is designed in full white shirts and shorts, with black stripes on the shoulder and seamless short sleeves with a black hem and the Nyero-Pattern on both shorts and shirts embedded in a more transparent appearance and white colors with a simple red pattern on one archetype and black and white collar projection on the second archetype. and shorts designed to fit the modern fit and black hems.
