About the Original Project
Daruma | Finale”—a short cinematic inspired by the Japanese legend of the monk Bodhidharma. It tells a story of the search for ultimate wisdom, resilience, and an indomitable spirit on the path to enlightenment. Having acquired a new body, Daruma becomes the guardian of the monastery, inspiring people toward perseverance and self-belief. It is this renewed appearance of the hero and the temple itself that are featured in the animation.

Soundtrack Concept
The music’s dynamic tempo emphasizes the character’s nature, reflecting their determination, perseverance, and tenacity. The selection of traditional Japanese and Buddhist musical instruments is also tied to the image of Daruma, which is an important part of Japanese culture and Buddhist tradition.
To create the necessary atmosphere, instruments such as the koto—a Japanese bamboo flute, singing bowls used in Buddhist rituals, and drums—were employed. Additionally, the sound of the кото helps convey the atmosphere of Japan and evokes a sense of mystery inherent in the temple setting.
The soundtrack’s main objective is to convey the spirit of the character’s resolve, resilience, and steadfastness, while simultaneously highlighting the mysterious ambiance of the temple where Daruma resides, as well as the associated symbolism of good fortune. This is why the music turned out to be quite dynamic: this character of sound better reflects the character’s inner strength and drive.
Prompt: Dynamic tempo; traditional Buddhist and Japanese music featuring kyotaku (flute), singing bowls, koto, and Buddhist drums; evokes a spirit of martial determination, perseverance, mystery, tenacity, and good fortune.
