Even before the start of the academic year, 4th-year students in the Sound Art and Sound Design programs began their practicum at the B. Shchukin Theatre Institute.
Our students were greeted with a very warm welcome—and for good reason. Last year, our students participated in the production of seven plays throughout the season. Some might say that’s not a lot, but look at what they were! The production «Christmas in the Home of Signor Cupellolo,» directed by Vladimir Logvinov, involved our graduates (who are now professionals) creating the entire sound design from start to finish, and it was incorporated into the repertoire of the Vakhtangov Theater. The professional work of our graduates was particularly noteworthy.

And the cherry on top of our students' practical experience at the Shchukin Theatre Institute was an invitation to work as a professional sound designer at the Shchukin training theater from one of our alumnae and one of the creators of the production «Christmas…» Daria Falko. We believe Dasha has a bright creative career ahead of her in the capital’s and all of Russia’s theater world!

New interns have their first premiere of the season on September 6, and work on creating the sound design for the play based on Leo Tolstoy’s novel «Anna Karenina» is in full swing.
Alongside creative assignments, students study sound theatrical equipment, which is the most modern among theater universities in Moscow.
The challenges set by the director-educator, Irina Pakhomova, for both her students and ours are not simple, but there is immense desire and excellent preparation. So, it will all work out!
Just two premieres remain before the end of September: a vaudeville play based on the stories of Anton Chekhov and the musical «Stilyagi.» There’s plenty to think about!
We look forward to seeing everyone at our premieres!
In March 2026, HSE Art and Design School and the B. V. Shchukin Theatre Institute signed a strategic partnership agreement, cementing a collaboration that began in November 2025. At that time, students in the «Contemporary Music and Sound Art» program created a complete sound design for the premiere of the play, «Christmas at Señor Cuppello’s House,» at the Shchukin Training Theatre.
