A person’s identity is largely defined by documents that attest to their existence, rights, knowledge, and social status, yet even these may not always align with reality.

In this series, I employ the technique of letterpress printing, transferring the security numbering from official documents onto disposable, everyday materials to question their value and authority. A stack of documents required to process new paperwork or receive services visualizes the extent to which a person is dependent on the bureaucratic system.

The series consists of two parts: documents placed in frames, and document packages for various life situations. In the first case, I imbue expendable materials with value; in the second case, I demonstrate the degree to which a person depends on personal documents and their helplessness without them.
Technique: letterpress printing on toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, facial tissues, etc. Dimensions: frames 297 × 420, files 210 × 297
