Koporye is a village in the Lomonosovsky District, located approximately 100 km west of Saint Petersburg.

During the Middle Ages, this was an ancient Russian city in the Novgrod lands, the administrative center of the Koporsky Uezd within the Vodskaya Pytina.

The fortress of Koporye was founded in 1237. It is first mentioned in the Novgorod Chronicles in 1240, when German knights, followers of the Order of the Sword Brethren, built a wooden fortress in the Koporsky Pogost.

Situational Plan

The restaurant’s architecture is based on a delicate interaction with the historical and natural context of Koporsk Fortress. The building’s volume extends the existing landscape, without competing visually with the monument and keeping the fortress the primary dominant feature of the space.
The restaurant’s elongated horizontal form and massive base reference the image of a fortress wall—its monumentality, stability, and concise geometry. The lighter upper volume, featuring wooden structures and glazing, contrasts with the heavy base, creating a contemporary interpretation of historical architecture.
