23– on 27 September 2025, five selected students of SASD went to the 'nbsp; place of power of the great Russian writer — in clear Paula, Tolstoy’s estate. We were able to participate in the the remarkable lab of today ' s land art ' lac; the blessed soil ' raquo;.
In the frame of this program we have been able to sink into the the history of the place, feel the philosophy of the writer and spend five full days in walk around fields and forests, record about 30 field record hours; and get to know each other closely, resting together in total random valleys, we 0; trees we 1; singers. We found weird sound distortions in we 2; natural environment, interacted with we 3; friendly catalogs of the estate, photographed each other, ran through we 4; field, meditated we 5; charged the energy of the green wand we 6; sealed the wires at we 7; the Tolstoy garden.
In the first every day, after being hounded and after studying all the museum space, we have also come to an excellent idea, which and became a concept for our interactive installation. And call it decided to ' laco; cory» — according to motives of history about like Tolstoy, having failed with exotic coffee, planted chicory, and it grew. In this simple gesture — choice not give up, a turn to the side, not breaking itself. For us, it became a metaphor for the lab: not be afraid of condemnation, not be afraid of a clean leaf, just do — better than not do.
Authorized design panel with exposition (working with Bones is a pleasure)
Our installation is — participatory sound art work, exploring human paths and values. We built it in two greenhouse spaces. In the first room was < < <light >> — overloads, dreams, psychedelic sound distortions, human voices, knocks, conversations, traces of other people ' s work. In the second, calm, and then realistic, nature sounded like the field, the wind, the woods, the forest; — everything that creates the sense of returning to the you. The partnership was in the 'nbsp; three Lives of microphones installed in the 'nbsp; greenhouse and garden. You could talk, you could go, you could knock, and you could hear yourself inside the sound stream.
they are satisfied with their work:)
Inspired by information about experiments in the family greenhouse of the Tolstoys, we have found for ourselves a pleasant philosophical gum for the these days. In to some extent, this story became our motto at the time of the lab. In five days, we’ve collected the entire multi-channel, set up three microphones that allow us to participate in the work (one of the microphones hanged in the garden under the umbrella), wrote a patch in the max MSP and collected a bunch of records from the different corners of the Clear Polana, which later turned into the algorithmic test installation. And everything under the auspices of &laquao; does better than not do». It’s really cool, and it’s sensitive.
My incredible partners.
I’ve had time to participate literally in all the stages that I’m so happy to see. Along with Dasha and Veroy walked through all the facilities of the lab, studied pasture and recorded an excellent reflection of the voice from forest from sides of this pasture, from Bones spent a lot of time over communication and cable management, with Oleg thought about the basic logic of the patch and 0; methodology of the installation itself.
A little backstage:)
Together, we’ve written a lot of exposition and we’ve thought about the whole fabulous, and we’ve personally taken a couple of important organizational points on we’ve got to communicate with the hubsp; the curators and the organization of our time and the space, and we’ve got to try ourselves in we’ve got a photographer. It was a great experience, a lot of interesting things happened in these five days, it pumped up and our creativity, and the resilience, and it helped with the the fear of a clean leaf.
Our wonderful team.
The most amazing thing was to listen to the sounds of clear Paula and gradually forget that they were recorded and processed. In at some point, the whole world seemed to sound exactly like this. — meaningful, harmonious, a little bit mystic. A then, when we turned off the system, it became awkward from the the silence: without installation, the world suddenly seemed poorer, as if something was not grabbed.
This trip was not it was simply a learning experience — rather an internal exercise. We’ve all learned a little not chasing for «ideal&raquao; result and trust the process. Because, as Tolstoy has shown, sometimes the main thing is — not coffee, and not even chicory, but the fact that the land is still capable of giving birth.
.and we trusted (in a photo I stand in a place where I was photographed when I was six and I first came to Clear Polana)
Well, look again at how wonderful we are.
