The Red Sun — a graphic biography of geneticist Nikolai Vavilov.
In school, I wanted to become a biologist, but I abandoned that goal after realizing that even the best scientists often lose the battle against pseudoscience. Later, I found out that my friends felt the same way. What is it like to accept the scientist’s challenge and fight obscurantism at the cost of one’s life? My comic is about just such a person—N. I. Vavilov. For homework, the student Lyova writes an essay about him and gets to know the great geneticist for the first time.
