About the competition
Type designers, among numerous other figures within the realm of creative industries, unmistakably exude an aura of mystery and reverence. Russia has seen a significant increase in the development of high-quality font projects, as well as the emergence of skilled professionals who blend drawing, calligraphy, software expertise, creative coding, and a deep understanding of graphic design history.
This combination of skills elevates design products and brands to a new level, as information design, layout, and font creation are the essential elements of visual communication.
Entries for the «Font» category should include font projects designed in response to authentic briefs as well as independent initiative projects. A key requirement for submission is the inclusion of the complete basic Cyrillic alphabet in the font.
Requirements
We look forward to receiving original font projects featuring the Cyrillic alphabet in both striking and unexpected display styles, as well as in balanced and harmonious text fonts.
To avoid a division among participants, we are equally interested in projects that combine intriguing and unconventional details and shapes with versatility and flexibility in their design. Entries should showcase an original concept and graphic design. A font should display a consistent system, with characters reflecting a unified vision by the designer and forming a cohesive set of forms that complement each other.
Prospective participants are encouraged to review the methodological recommendations specific to each nomination category before entering the competition.

Jury
- Artyom Rulev — the chair of the jury and a Senior Lecturer at the Higher School of Economics, curating the Communication Design program at HSE ART AND DESIGN SCHOOL in Saint Petersburg. He is a graphic designer, art director, and co-founder of the tententen studio - Vladimir Anosov — a type designer, calligrapher, and artist, teaching the «Font» course at HSE ART AND DESIGN SCHOOL in Saint Petersburg - Ivan Gladkikh — a type designer and the director of the Type Type studio - Alexandra Korolkova — a type designer, book designer, typographer, and type and typography theorist, working as the art director at Paratype. She authored the book Zhivaja tipografika [Living Typography] and has been honored with prizes and awards in the field of type design - Elena Novoselova — a type designer and calligrapher, teaching at the British Higher School of Design and serving as a jury member for the Zapf Games calligraphy competition
