Nomination

Visual Research is a conceptual, informative and systematic way to examine any phenomenon based on visual materials. It can be a work of art, an illustration, a photograph, a movie, an animated film, a comic book and so on. It’s fair to say that this particular longread is a research project, which allows the student to serve as the author of the text, the editor and the art director. Using the platform’s features, the contestant can make a statement on classical or modern culture by sharing their conceptual vision of the chosen subject and by providing balanced and convincing visuals to prove their point.

Submission Requirements
Longreads that tell about any cultural phenomenon can participate in the «Visual research» nomination. It can tell about plots, techniques or stylistic features in works of art, about a particular trend in mass culture, about issues of aesthetic or socio-cultural trends.
The main requirement is authenticity in formulation of the research issue. Striking interdisciplinary research is encouraged.
Individuals or teams can submit their projects, including student coursework or graduation projects. Students and alumni of any educational institutions and short-term design programmes who completed their studies no more than a year ago can participate. Projects can be presented in both Russian and English.
